We tailor interview skills training programmes to meet your particular needs and to fit a range of purposes from selection, assessment for development or succession planning, appraisal / performance reviews, and counselling.
We run our programmes on a workshop basis with 'hands-on' practical exercises backed by a range of support materials.
We will cover the essentials of good interviewing - the "do's & don'ts", guidelines for questioning, probes & focusing devices and fact finding techniques - through the concept and practice of structured interviewing, to specialised techniques designed to maximise the performance of the interviewers for particular purposes, for example, panel or board interviews; feedback for development; critical incident interviews; criterion and competency based interviews (frequently used in assessment and development centres); and structured psychometric interviews.
Making sure the right people are recruited is vital, not only to ensuring the individuals will make an effective contribution, but also to the successful development of teams and the overall performance of the organisation. The recruitment and selection process is costly both in terms of time and resources and the most suitable candidate needs to be appointed first time.
Just as with our interviewing skills programmes, we will adopt a workshop basis with 'hands-on' practical exercises and a range of support materials.
We will design selection training programmes to meet your needs and we can cover the basics from developing job specifications and person specifications; preparing focused job advertisements with your employer branding; considering the 'pros and cons' of internal versus external candidates; handling email, postal and networked applications from internet and media advertisements; 'selling' the job and your organisation; through to effective telephone and/or face-to-face interviewing of the 'long list' of candidates; to identifying the most suitable candidate at short list stage; and the process to follow to ensure sound references.
